Welcome to Jachthaven de Maas
Discover the tranquil marina of Alem, a picturesque village on the River Maas, surrounded by unspoilt nature. Alem is a place where the rural layout is still preserved and where the beauty of yesteryear can still be felt. You can take a relaxing walk around the island, which used to be part of North Brabant but became part of the northern side of Gelderland after the river was canalised.
Your daily shopping can be done in Rossum, while Kerkdriel and Zaltbommel, both about 6 km away, provide for all your other needs. A bus leaves the village every hour to Kerkdriel, Zaltbommel or Den Bosch.
The marina is located below the Lith lock, which means there are no more locks on the Maas upstream. The next lock is at Hollands Diep and leads to Zeeland. In the immediate vicinity are beautiful lakes with islets and beaches, while the banks of the Meuse are dotted with picturesque villages and towns. From the lake where the marina is located, you can sail up the Waal via the St. Andries lock. From there, it takes 1.5 hours to sail to Tiel (Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal), while downstream you can reach Gorinchem in 1.5 hours.
The hospitable marina can accommodate 250 berths and has various facilities. In case of technical problems or breakdowns, a helping hand can be offered. Assistance can also be provided when buying or selling a boat. The café is open all year round and offers the opportunity to enjoy a snack and a drink. The café is decorated in maritime style and has a large terrace where you can relax during the summer months. Parties and barbecues can also be arranged.
Berths
The marina has 210 rental moorings and 40 sales moorings. All rental moorings are equipped with finger piers, electricity connection and drinking water nearby. The jetties are well maintained and many have been recently renewed. They are at least 2 metres wide and equipped with anti-slip slats or tear plates where necessary. As the marina is located in the river area, the water level is variable and all moorings have been made floating. The poles to which your mooring is attached can rise up to 6 metres above the normal water level.
The harbour closes at 10pm in the evening with a barrier. Due to the presence of people on the premises, there is good social control. Magnetic keys for the barrier are available at the office and require a deposit of €75, which is refunded upon return of the key. Wireless internet is available throughout the grounds in cooperation with KPN, so visitors with laptops or PDAs with a Wi-Fi card can access it for a fee. For more information, please visit the harbour office.
Passers-by
As a passer-by, you are welcome in the well-equipped marina. An available berth can be chosen and sign in at the harbour office. Registration by phone is also possible at 0418-661524 or 0645-434198. The marina is located in Alem, in the middle of the river area, where the Maas and Waal rivers pass each other within a few hundred metres. It is the ideal base for walking and cycling routes in the Bommelerwaard.
Surroundings
Bommelerwaard is a beautiful landscape with dykes, floodplains, willows, meadows and nature development areas. The rivers Meuse and Waal have different origins, so the dynamics on both banks differ. As a result, the region offers a great diversity of flora and fauna. Explore the area via one of the walking and hiking routes, or take cycling trips along winding dykes with beautiful views, picturesque villages and cosy centres with terraces. You will never be bored in Bommelerwaard.
