• Passers-by are welcome, but permanent moorings are available all year round.
• The marina is equipped with modern facilities, including a good sanitary building, large lawns and a beautifully restored old lock.

History of Bommen Berend:

• The name Bommen Berend has its origins in the nearby Keppel Castle, captured by the Bishop of Munster, Bernhard van Galen, in 1665.
• This war enthusiast was nicknamed "Bommen Berend" because of his preference for gunpowder over incense.
• Although he tried to conquer Groningen, he did not succeed.

• Berths are suitable for boats up to about 15 metres long and 4.50 metres wide.

Discover the Oude IJssel:

• The Oude IJssel is a tributary of the river IJssel, with a total length of 81 kilometres.
• The navigable section runs from Doesburg to Ulft, about 25 kilometres, with vast nature and picturesque villages along the way.

Cruise to Doetinchem:

• Cruising eastwards from Bommen Berend, you will reach cosy Doetinchem, where you can shop and enjoy a bite to eat and a drink on the terraces.
• Moor at the starboard jetty. If this is occupied, you can moor at the port side quay.
• Continue your journey and experience increasingly beautiful scenery away from commercial shipping.

Bridges and Locks:

• Most bridges are sufficiently high, except the railway bridge (height 2.20 metres) near Doetinchem.
• This bridge is operated remotely. Call the number on the bridge for operation.

End of Journey in Ulft:

• In Ulft, you will reach the weir and will not be able to sail any further.
• Here you will have plenty of room to turn and moor. Discover the cultural heritage at the Cultuurfabriek de DRU in Ulft.
