Welcome to the website of WSV De Wiel, an association with a rich history of more than 50 years. With more than 40 active members, this association is a true bastion of lovers of the waters. The association offers access to a marina, a clubhouse and various facilities that make water life even more enjoyable.
Together with the members, the community takes care of the maintenance of the marina. This collective effort ensures that the marina remains hygienic, safe and well-maintained at all times. The saying "many hands make light work" certainly applies here.
The historical context of The Wheel is fascinating. Located in the fortified town of Heukelum, which dates back to the year 996, the association is an integral part of this beautiful place. The marina and rowing boat harbour are valuable additions to Heukelum's heritage. Since 1980, we have been making efforts to provide water lovers with a safe place to place their boats. The marina was founded in 1967 and has 40 berths, suitable for boats up to 12 metres long.
The association offers its members not only a marina, but also a clubhouse where the maintenance of the marina and its facilities is carried out jointly. This joint effort results in a well-maintained environment where all members can enjoy their shared passion for boating.
Within the marina, electricity connections and sanitary facilities are available, making the stay at the marina more comfortable. There is also a dedicated rowing boat marina, the T-Steiger, which can accommodate boats up to 4 metres, with space for 30 boats.
The future of the T-Steiger is being planned. The association has a desire to renovate this jetty, and although some talks have already taken place, there is still the challenge of getting the financial picture right. If you are willing to contribute or know someone who can help, you are cordially invited to contact the association. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
