The marina
The association marina on Haveneiland is the showpiece of WV IJburg. The marina has 120 berths available exclusively for their members living on IJburg. The boats range from large and small sailboats to sloops, motorboats and even eight optimists for youth sailors. Some berths have been allocated to sponsors who have contributed to the funding, and there is also space for passers-by.
The moorings are divided into different sizes, ranging from 6 to 12 metres. Most berths are equipped with electricity connections. Within the marina, there is a central point for drinking water and a station for discharging dirty water.
Waiting list Currently, all berths are occupied. There is a waiting list, in which members can register based on the date of application. To match vacant berths to members on the waiting list, it is important to know the dimensions of their (future) boat. After all, a 10-metre boat will not fit into a 6-metre berth, and vice versa. More details are available from the moorings coordinator.
Windsurfing For windsurfers, a container is available to store surfing equipment at Surfcenter IJburg, located next to the beach near the lock. More information can be obtained from the surfing coordinator.
Passers-by Space is reserved for passers-by. Depending on the length of their boat, WV IJburg can accommodate about seven passers-by with shore power facilities. If members are absent for more than two days, additional spaces will be made available for passers-by.
Before taking up their berth, passers-by should contact the harbour master at 06 54376131. More relevant information for passers-by is available in the passer-by information.
Harbour Master The management and maintenance of the port are the responsibility of the harbour master. The harbour master is present in the port almost every day and can be reached between 09.00 and 18.00 at telephone number 06-54376131. He can also be reached by e-mail at [email protected].

Approach to their marina From the IJmeer/Buiten IJ, hold course at buoy P20-IJB1 and sailing in a southerly direction (through the breached dam), follow the betting channel in a south-easterly direction. The maximum draft of this channel to the port is 2.50 metres. Note: There is a 140-metre steel sheet pile wall parallel to and just outside the fairway as a breakwater, in front of the harbour.
Winter operation: Between 01-11 and 31-03, the lock is operated between 09:00 and 23:30. Between 09:00 and 18:00-23:30, operation is by appointment! Phone lock operator: +31629683120.
There is no operation on both Christmas days and New Year's Day!
The lock is 35 metres long and 6 metres wide. The average sill height is 2.50 metres. Due to the varying water level, it is advisable to pay close attention to the signs with red numbers at the entrances to the lock.
If you want to enjoy more water sports, just a 10-minute walk from their harbour is the Surfcentrum IJburg. Here, you can even rent a surfboard for your pleasure. With a canoe, supboard or small boat, you can explore IJburg's canals or even take a trip around the entire island, which has a distance of 7 kilometres.
For food and drinks around IJburg, there are several nice cafés and restaurants available. Some of these include Dok48, N.A.P., Eetcafé Caña IJburg, BloemopIJburg (Italian), Mchi (Japanese), Marina Club, Fusio To Go and Pizzeria Domino.
Grocery shopping is also convenient, with a bakery, fish shop, butcher's shop, liquor store and two supermarkets on Pampuslaan, just a few minutes' walk away. For a wider range of shops, including AH, Vomar, Hema and Gall & Gall, visit the IJburg shopping centre.
If you want to go to the centre of Amsterdam, tram 26 takes you to Central Station every 6 minutes in 15 minutes. The last tram back to IJburg leaves at 0:40. After 0:50 a night bus, number 359, runs every 30 minutes on Fridays and Saturdays. You can also consult the OV travel guide for more information.
Along the route of tram 26 to Central Station, you will find several other places of interest, such as Club Panama, the Lloyd Hotel, restaurant Fifteen (by Jamie Oliver), the BIMhuis for jazz, the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, the Scheepvaartmuseum and Nemo Science Museum. The EYE Film Museum, located near Central Station, is also well worth a visit and easily accessible by ferry towards Buiksloterweg.
Consult the important port rules for further details on visiting the port. The history of the port is a story of dedication and commitment of its members. The harbour was built in 2009 thanks to the efforts of IJburg residents, who gave selflessly for five years. Sponsors such as AM Vastgoedontwikkeling (main sponsor), Groep Waterstad and Stadsdeel Zeeburg also contributed to the funding.
Another remarkable aspect of the port is that it is the first in the world to be built with sustainable and environmentally friendly Accoya wood, a Dutch patent that was nationally recognised in 2008 with the Sustainability Award, awarded by the Ministries of VROM, EZ and LNV, among others.
The opening of the port took place on 27 June 2009 and was festively celebrated by Minister Cramer of VROM. Since then, the port has been a beacon for water sports enthusiasts. If you are interested in a berth, the conditions for application and allocation are described above.
