Welcome to Watersports Association De Kooihaven!
The association, founded in March 1974, originated with about 20 boats and initially used Zitman and Jan Baart's marina on Sumatrastraat. In the early days, the boats were stored by hand via a ramp on a small yard for the winter. As time went by, the association took on a different character and was fortunately able to survive through active winter storage at Holicon (formerly Shipyard Boot). In 1987, after years of negotiations with the Municipality of Leiden, they finally got their own harbour.
Located in the De Waard industrial estate, the marina has 46 berths ranging from 2.5 to 13 metres. With a beautiful location at the junction of the Oude Rijn and the Zijl, De Kooihaven offers direct access to the city of Leiden and the Kagerplassen.
De Ark, the accommodation for the harbour master and members, provides a perfect base. From the road, the harbour has two lockable entrances, and although there is no winter storage, they operate year-round.
At Watersports Association De Kooihaven, they strive to promote water sports and are an association for the average water sports enthusiast. Located near the city centre, there are plenty of facilities available.
